Ryan Pistorius is an Associate at Weintraub Huang LLP, where he specializes in international arbitration (commercial and investor-state) and commercial litigation.
Ryan has represented businesses, foreign investors, and sovereign states across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. As both an advocate and tribunal secretary, he has experience with all major arbitration rules (including those of the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, AAA-ICDR, ADRIC, SIAC, and UNCITRAL).
As a substantive generalist within the umbrella of international dispute resolution, Ryan has experience with foreign direct investment, cross-border business, public international law, securities and shareholder disputes, mining and energy, maritime and space law, trade law, intellectual property, technology, entertainment, transportation, agribusiness, franchising, administrative tribunals, and a wide variety of contractual claims.
Prior to joining Weintraub Huang LLP, Ryan practiced at an investment arbitration boutique in Paris (Savoie Arbitration) and at Canada's largest law firm (Gowling WLG). During law school, he competed in the Vis Moot (amongst others); prior to that, he won the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship. Ryan remains active in the moot/debate communities as a coach and judge.
Ryan is the Vice-Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s International Law Section, and serves as Branch Secretary of the Canada Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Ryan is a full Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and is currently completing his graduate thesis at Queen Mary University of London’s School of International Arbitration.
